Inday Cadapan (1939-2004) She is known for her work on “Inang Bayan” that depicted the political leaders during the Martial Law and the EDSA Revolution. From social expressionist works, she shifted to vibrant watercolor. Her often simple yet bold lines combined with striking colors filled with emotions were prevalent in her artworks and have described her as one of the Philippines’ Expressionist painters. She drew inspiration from Picasso, Matisse and Kooning. Inday also created wood sculptures, and made use of ceramic, papier mache and fabric collages in the form of dolls. Her subjects were usually women, mothers and their children. She was one of the mentors of popular contemporary artist Adrian Morales
